Perspectives on AI

Is Artificial Intelligence on the way to developing its own consciousness? The discussion about this is in full swing - not least since Google researcher Blake Lemoine attested to the language model for dialogs LaMDA that it communicates like "a seven- or eight-year-old child who happens to have a clue about physics. How should this assessment be evaluated? What distinguishes large neural networks from other AI systems, and what can they do? And why do people tend to anthropomorphize technology? Answers to these questions will be provided by computer scientist and psychologist Ute Schmid (University of Bamberg) and the head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS, Stefan Wrobel.
