Putting AI centre stage – Plattform Lernende Systeme brings combined expertise to CEBIT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a driving force of digitalisation. Experts from Plattform Lernende Systeme – Germany’s platform for Artificial Intelligence – are at this year’s CEBIT to discuss how the use of AI is changing work, business models and everyday life. Trade fair visitors can also stop by the stand run by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) to try out self-learning systems for themselves.

Looking to the future, Artificial Intelligence and self-learning systems are going to be crucial to Germany’s ability to compete with other countries. At this year's CEBIT, the Plattform Lernende Systeme founded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in 2017 will provide major incentives for shaping AI according to the needs of society as well as providing applications that will lead to success.

Future Work Forum – how AI is shaping the future of work

Self-learning systems are gradually making their way into offices, factories and hospitals and will play a key role in shaping our everyday lives. On 11 June, Dieter Spath, Co-Chair of the platform and President of acatech, will be joining Prof. Wolf-Dieter Lukas, Head of the Key Technologies department at the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) in the Future Work Forum. This will provide an opportunity to talk to business and union representatives about the opportunities that digitalisation offers for the economy, employment and good work, and how the loss of jobs and qualifications can be prevented.

Forum dedicated to self-learning systems in everyday life and business

On 12 and 13 June, experts from the Steering Committee and working groups of Plattform Lernende Systeme will be speaking at the Expert Stage in Hall 27, where they will address the latest developments and essential guidelines for the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. Other topics will include the framework for Germany’s technology leadership in Artificial Intelligence, human-centric human-machine interaction, specific applications in healthcare and disaster response, and secure and fair algorithms

Self-learning systems to try out at the BMBF stand

Throughout the trade fair, Plattform Lernende Systeme is exhibiting at the stand hosted by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) in Hall 27 (Stand E52). Self-learning systems from a range of application areas are on show at the stand, including systems designed to help generate renewable energy more efficiently, technology that simplifies the process of finding a parking space and solutions that improve medical diagnoses. One good example of the latter is the Ada health app from Berlin-based start-up and platform member Ada Health. Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek, Co-Chairwoman of Plattform Lernende Systeme, will visit the stand on June 12 to learn more about the AI applications.
